Want to become a beekeeper? It takes some work, but the reward is not only honey but helping to protect and grow bee populations. It is a great family activity. Our Story
In June of 2014 I went on a first-grade field trip with our older daughter to a bee farm outside of Moscow, Russia. We toured the farm, learned the process for extracting and processing honey, and tasted many different honey products. It was a very memorable field trip. While overseas and after returning to the States, our family started reading and researching about the dwindling bee population on our planet. Our family wanted to help save the bees in our own small way. YCBeesness was born.
We started with one hive in May of 2018. The first time we processed honey was in September of 2019. Today we have nine hives that live in the side yard of our Davenport, Iowa home.
This is a true family run veteran business. Jesy, a veteran, is our beekeeper and is assisted by our older daughter. The other children and I help with bottling, labeling, and selling our local raw honey. As parents, we love helping our children to see the value of a healthy planet and teaching them to run a small business.
Our Mission
Our mission at YC Beesness Store is to provide delicious local raw honey to the residents of the Quad Cities and beyond. In our own small way, we want to help boost the bee population and ensure the health of our planet.
Our Products
At YC Beesness Store, we sell local raw honey by the pound and half pound. We also sell honeycomb and chapstick. The chapstick is made using our beeswax and honey.
